Good news. Romney pays less in taxes than I do, and likely you as well. I’m not sure why that’s good news, but I’m an optimist.

NPR reports Mitt Romney’s 2010 tax return shows he made $21.7 million dollars, and paid 13.9 percent in taxes. He’s rollin in it.

Kentucky~ Canaan gets OVC honors for a fourth time…he’s a bad man. A twister touched down in Hazel on Sunday. Former McCracken Judge-Executive gets that money. Madisonville Police ID remains. School bus ads die easy (sorry Bruce Willis). Lawmakers say the budget is tough, wow. Pharmacists say providers are screwing them.

If a candidate bows out in a presidential race and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

NPR reports the Huntsman campaign is getting ready to announce the end and throw a little love Romney’s way. Mitt should get ready for the Huntsman bump.

Kentucky~ Murray State keeps the winning streak alive. There are many  MLK day events across the purchase. Local Amish men are taking their hatred of that evil orange triangle to the State Supreme Court. The University of Pikeville debate gets rough amidst the redistricting fight.  A child welfare summit has some suggestions for the Commonwealth.Two Kentuckians were aboard the ill-fated Italian cruise ship. The Agricultural Department is in hot water over bad hiring decisions.

President Obama’s tour bus will run across rough political terrain in North Carolina this year.

NPR reports the Obama campaign tour starts in North Carolina, but may meet more resistance this time than last.

Kentucky~ Two hung juries fueled frustration in the western part of the state.  Employment offices will match you to your job. Floridian doctors are feeding the pill problem. Beshear is pushing for other democratic candidates. Beshear beating Williams in state employee race.

Illinois~ Gov Quinn says catching up on bills will help the state economy.

Tennessee~ A Clarksville man was killed standing in the road looking at a cell phone. You need a permit to burn till next summer. The state will give money for energy efficiency.

Tea Party activists continue to pressure congressional Republicans to make good on their promise to deliver deep federal spending cuts.

NPR reports (a few hundred) Tea Partiers yesterday came against the backdrop of negotiations on a fiscal year spending agreement.

KENTUCKY~ A Paducah DUI lawyer must serve his own full DUI sentence. A recent audit finds state government spent $100k of federal funds on questionable expenses. Report: public schools don’t spend much on health services. Kentucky’s Homeland Security… there’s an app for that. Six Fort Campbell heroes died in Afghanistan this week and Gov Beshear orders flags halfway down to honor a Fort Knox casualty. There’s a bomb disposal competition this week @ Fort Campbell. The Commonwealth’s First Lady today plans to read to rural students via Skype.

TENNESSEE~ The teacher tenure bill edges closer to passing. Young history buffs will compete in Nashville tomorrow. APSU Softballers lose to, then beat TSU.

ILLINOIS~ Senators approve combining the state’s comptroller and treasurer offices.
