NPR faces sharp criticism after terminating news analyst Juan Williams’ contract, who was fired Wednesday for violating the news organization’s ethics policy over comments he made on Fox News about Muslims.

~ Williams’ comments and NPR‘s response is prompting a debate about where the boundaries are drawn for journalists nowadays.

KENTUCKY~ McCracken County Schools suspends its facilities director after a DUI arrest. A small plane emergency landed on KY-80 yesterday. Statewide jobless rates are still in the double digits. Jack hopes Rand will still do next week’s scheduled KET debate. The state is auditing its pension agencies.

TENNESSEE~ A man is arrested in Henry County for (alleged) severe domestic violence. Ash storage at  TVA’s coal power plant in Cumberland City has raised some red flags. Unemployment figures dip below the national average. Governor Bredesen cites drought in requesting federal disaster relief.

A 6th Fort Campbell hero dies this month in bloody Afghanistan. Fort Knox is transforming from a tank school into a command center. Kentucky’s employing again (jobless rates dip to a 16-month low). State worker unions hate Beshear’s furloughs.

TENNESSEE~ Unemployment dropped .3% in June.

Obama <3's Equality

Obama issues a homosexual equality memo to the nation’s hospitals.

KY~ Reidland-Farley Fire pariah Richard Tapp gets fired. Paducah Police chase down (alleged) 19-year-old kidnapper. More in Christian County are returning their Census forms. We have no budget… Legislative FAIL! and Beshear’s puking mad. Several bills are now law: (1) bans texting while driving, (2) improves the state retirement system and (3) makes it easier for KCTCS students to transfer to 4-year universities. The jobless rate is the same as it was in January.

TN~ Henry County has a (sorta) new head football coach. Bredesen would sacrfice the sales tax cap to fix the $80m hole. State has biggest workforce increase in 5 years.
