NPR reports the highest court in the land hears another FCC indecency/censorship case. I bet this would all go away if one of the justices let loose with a couple choice words.

Kentucky~  Paducah Convention Center alleged embezzlers are now facing federal charges.  No more big-boned trucks allowed on the Ledbetter bridgeStumbo is still fighting the redistricting fight.

Illinois ~ Gov Quinn prepares to sign the earned income tax credit bill.

Tennessee ~ The legislative term begins today- go fightin’ 107th! The state is meeting the education reforms tied to the Race to the Top Award.

College Bands are the last place you’d expect to find brutality, but there it is…

NPR reports on the growing  concern of hazing within historically black universities’ marching bands.

Kentucky~ Paducah’s prospective homeless shelter building is condemned. The CCC contract is nearly finished.Graves County High students were caught with drugs on the bus. The main suspect in Sunday’s Trigg County shooting turns himself in. Many Kentucky National Guardsmen will be home for the holidays. A major state coal official is hanging up his hat.  A former horse racing Commission Chief seeks reinstatement.

Murray Calloway County Hospital Endowment for Healthcare raises funds for the Hospice House Building project with Murray’s first ever half marathon, Saturday April 16.  In addition to runners, volunteers are welcome all day to help with course set-up, water/aid stations, medal distribution, and other jobs.  Get more information at 270-762-1831.

The McCracken County Public Library is now recycling.  It’s at 555 Washington in Paducah.  Bring your used books, shaped cake pans, and books and papers about McCracken.  Bring your batteries & electronic equipment, old cell phones and eye glasses.  And the Library can use your un-used school supplies and coloring books as well as unexpired food items.

Angels Attic Thrift Store in Murray needs inventory.  It sells household items, books, furniture, clothing, CDs, and other items to benefit Angels Community Clinic.  Drop off hours at the rear of the store off Arcadia Drive are 9 to 5 Monday through Saturday.  The store is also able to pick up large donations and yard sale leftovers.

Murray Parks Board kicks out its director, and TVA freezes pay for nearly 3,500. Car dealers want government to sweeten the pot, while residents in Murray check out the latest hospital CEO candidate.

ILLINOIS ~ A second riverboat leads to a city/county throw down. Law requires product information for pets at stores, and lawmakers consider taking out a loan.

~NPR reads a report and finds it may be undermining public confidence in the courts.

KENTUCKY~ What the proposed McCracken County/Paducah merger may look like, as outlined in a committee’s first-draft report. Marshall County search and rescue teams recover the body of a drowned boater. A planned coal-2-liquid plant eyes building on a 3k-acre Carlisle County plot. Beshear and education leaders will host a (live) KET forum tomorrow. The state workers’ lawsuit against upcoming furloughs will be heard this afternoon. You can design the state’s next business license plate.

TENNESSEE~ TVA warns higher electric bills are incoming (again). Study: bad time to be a tiny hospitalized baby.
