Colbert’s fake presidential is funded by his not so fake Super-PAC.

NPR reports Steven Colbert’s Super-PAC may help us all understand the true role of these big money attack dogs. Too bad the real candidates can’t put that pup on a leash.

The unemployment rate in the US has fallen to its lowest level in three years.

NPR reports last month’s surge in hiring helped to drive unemployment to 8.5%. Here’s hoping those people will be allowed to keep their jobs and their extra cash.

Kentucky~  Paducah City Commissioner Watkins announces his run for the 3rd district seat. Former McCracken county humane society workers arraigned for inhumane euthanasia. The Dorena-Hickman ferry is nearly done with its retrofit. Life is about to get better for Goldfish in Owensboro. No state department is safe from upcoming budget cuts. Beshear has appointed a group to study tax reform. A Connecticut hedge fund linked to Kentucky Retirement accounts has failed.

In Sweden, nuclear waste disposal sites have become tourist attractions.

NPR reports that the Swedish nuclear industry has taken its toxic waste sites from protested hidden facilities to scientific field trip locations.

Kentucky~ A Paducah kid won another karate contest (I wouldn’t mess with him). Lanes are closed on US 45 in Paducah. Daviess County is becoming more disabled friendly. More Post Office closings are predicted (say it ain’t so Ms. Cleo). Guardsman Miller gets life for murder. Jack Conway is suing Daymar for screwing college kids.

Tennessee~ A man is crossing the nation on horseback (WHOA NELLY!). Blue Cross Blue Shield says stolen info hasn’t been used.

Nashville, TN’s Magdalene program offers prostitutes an opportunity to get drug-free and off the streets.

NPR reports the program’s housing, therapy and a self-sustaining small business allow the women it serves to heal, make money and gain respect.

KENTUCKY~ Torrential overnight rain adds to flood worries (no additional damage reports). Gov Beshear sends in some sandbagging troops after warning about price gougers. WKMS surveys Calloway County storm damage from the air. A landslide in Lyon County has been partially cleared from KY-93.  Madisonville OKs Sunday alcohol sales (+tax). Richie Farmer ponies up his furlough money to charity. US Rep Whitfield tours the region today.

TENNESSEE~ Montgomery County schools are off to a late start. Jostens Publishing in Clarksville expects to add +200? jobs.

KY~ We reached our public radio fundraising goal this morning. Storm’s a comin’ (this weekend). Paducah halfway house escapees: 3 down, 1 to go. Tragic teen’s mushroom friend  is out of jail.  Calloway County has 4 superintendent finalists and its former Sheriff’s building sells for $71k. A Fort Campbell soldier is awarded the Silver Star. An antivirus glitch screws up school computers across the state.

TN~ A bill that could let the Governor circumvent the Attorney General’s office is making progress. Republicans (obviously) oppose removing tax cap.

IL~ 15k strong march FOR state income tax.
