…face it, I’m older and have more insurance.

NPR reports as economic struggles have kept more people from retiring, and brought many out of retirement, age discrimination claims are up. But it’s tough to prove.

Kentucky~ The Racers are OVC champs. ‘Your lights were out‘, says the giant boat to the tiny bridge. There are more ways to win, or more likely lose at Kentucky Downs.

Illinois~ There’s a new sheriff in town (sheriff meaning chief, and town meaning Metropolis).

Tennessee~ Haslam gave up his class size idea.  Residents are getting out early in the primary. It’s getting harder to ‘say’gay’.

Mosquitoes are mostly just annoying, though some carry disease.

NPR reports the city of Iquitos, Peru has become a giant, open-air lab for the study of dengue fever spread by mosquitoes.

Kentucky~ 200 temp jobs will be available in western Kentucky for flood clean-up. The trial for an accused baby smotherer has been postponed. A Paducah man is arrested for making meth. A state program is helping college drop-outs get back into school. Police may not arrest you for your minor crime anymore (but you will get a fine).

Tennessee~ Gov Haslam signed a bill to extend unemployment benefits.

Illinois~ It’s Superman celebration time in Metropolis.

Who knew math could fight improvised explosive devices?

~NPR hears how the use of mathematical social network analysis can identify key players in the bombing scene.

KENTUCKY~ LBL’s 4-lane opens up. Mayfield High football faces off with Hazard today for the Class 1-A championship title. Christian County High School’s Choir Director faces allegations of sexual abuse. 4 juveniles plead guilty in Christian/Todd County Amish/Mennonite home invasions. Police take down a Marshall County methlab. Ag economists predict the state’s farming industry will breach $5 billion next year. Military officials are investigating the Afghanistan shooting that killed six Fort Campbell soldiers.

ILLINOIS~ Since Metropolis can’t stop an incoming topless bar, it’s looking into ordinances to regulate conduct there. The state settles its debt by selling off a bunch of tobacco bonds.

A WWII vet is awarded a Bronze Star for a heroic feat 65 years ago. Beshear warns federal lawmakers’ quarreling may endanger the state’s unemployed. VP Biden talks to Louisville General Electric workers.

TENNESSEE~ Clarksville Marina contractor needs 144 more days to finish excavation work. A hearing to review federal agencies’ flood response is slated for next month. The state finally begins a federal energy rebate program. Bredesen signs the jailer/immigration check into law.

ILLINOIS~ Nuclear producer Honeywell locks union workers out of the plant.  Metropolis passes a 15-year  sewer separation plan after a state EPA mandate.

NASA FUN

KY~ Paducah officials hear Downtown After Dinner controversy and their options on knocking down the Executive Inn. Oh.. and Heath Middle School was burgled. A murder suspect’s ex-GF will testify against him. 3 area high schools join an advanced placement program. The Commonwealth’s budget is as clear as a window! (Too bad the next one hasn’t passed yet…) Lawmakers won’t get to take as many (paid) trips and Beshear signs a bill which smacks the hands of some debt-adjustors.

TN~ The House will vote soon to sell guns no matter what and the Senate will vote soon on allowing guns in bars.

IL~ Metropolis eyes its Cadillac health plan.
