Idyllic Costa Rica is becoming the newest haven for South American drug cartels.

President Obama will debrief the nation tonight on the US military operations in Libya.

NPR reports the televised address comes nine days after Obama spurred the military into action.

KENTUCKY~ A Paducah man (allegedly) stabbed another man many times with a screwdriver. Paducah had a mini-quake last week. Six area dams would be hazardous if breached. A philanthropic dancing competition over the weekend drew in $132k. Gov Beshear throws out state agency cuts in the just-passed Medicaid bill.  UK makes the Final Four. Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker wants to close his state’s budget gap by having state workers pay more for pensions and benefits and also permanently limit public employees’ bargaining rights.

NPR reports after a week of protests and Senate Democrats literally walking away from the capitol, no one’s backing down.

KENTUCKY~ Major crimes in Paducah have dropped 16%. +35 MPH winds knocked over a Super 8 Motel sign in Calvert City. Expect delays tomorrow passing over Eggner’s Ferry Bridge. The state’s Tourism Council renames itself and spring cleaning is being planned at a dozen Civil War sites. Two state Republican candidates have no Primary opposition and 14 hopefuls spoke @ a Murray GOP dinner Saturday. The General Assembly is racing to finish their ‘short session.’

A colossal blizzard roaring across a third of the country has paralyzed the nation’s heartland with ice and snow.

NPR has the latest on the monstrous storm already billed as the worst in decades.

KENTUCKY~ High winds through the area have knocked some trees down and blew a roof off a trailer. Flights out of Paducah to Chicago are canceled until tomorrow afternoon. MSU packed Lovett Auditorium to hear a speech by actor Ben Stein. Mayfield’s ex-Mayor accuses current Mayor Cantrell of nepotism. A Carlisle County Middle School teacher wins $72k on Wheel of Fortune. Governor Beshear doesn’t like the way federal regulators are treating the state’s coal industry.  Senate Prez Williams wants the state congress to take off early.

ILLINOIS~ US Marshals track down an alleged Massac County sexual predator in a Wyoming village.

The debate over California’s Prop-19, the initiative to legalize marijuana there, has cops and mothers supporting it but many stoners and growers oppose it.

~NPR reports Californians will vote November 2 on whether to allow local and state government to tax and regulate marijuana.

TENNESSEE~ A former Montgomery County Executive is in critical condition after a weekend car wreck. Nashville jurors convict a western Kentucky fraudster duo (who told victims they were bringing a Disney theme park to the state).
