The unemployment rate in the US has fallen to its lowest level in three years.

NPR reports last month’s surge in hiring helped to drive unemployment to 8.5%. Here’s hoping those people will be allowed to keep their jobs and their extra cash.

Kentucky~  Paducah City Commissioner Watkins announces his run for the 3rd district seat. Former McCracken county humane society workers arraigned for inhumane euthanasia. The Dorena-Hickman ferry is nearly done with its retrofit. Life is about to get better for Goldfish in Owensboro. No state department is safe from upcoming budget cuts. Beshear has appointed a group to study tax reform. A Connecticut hedge fund linked to Kentucky Retirement accounts has failed.

The GOP has decided to fight for millionaires, even if they don’t want it.

NPR reports republicans have been railing against the millionaire surtax, but millionaires don’t seem to be against the idea. Maybe someone should tell Republican representatives.

Kentucky~ A Paducah businessman donates solar panels to the new animal shelter. A man tries to rob a Paducah motel with just his finger-gun. The Henderson plastics plant which was home to a fire earlier this week had numerous safety violations.  The Human Rights Commission released its report on discrimination in the Commonwealth.Beshear’s inaugural festivities have been revealed.

KY~ A barge hits a Kentucky Lake bridge and sinks. Trigg County Schools begin interviewing superintendent candidates and McCracken County plans to do the same in mid-April. Where McCracken builds its upcoming Emergency Center could be decided by a grant. 130 Fort Campbell soldiers expected home Friday. The new manager of Hopkins County’s Animal Shelter didn’t pan out. KY Utilities now offers an online map of power outages. Jobless rates were higher in every county last year. The Commonwealth declines to join other states challenging healthcare reform. Beshear urges no education budget cuts, as legislative leaders continue to make us wait.

TN~ Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper will not run for re-election. No hablan Inglés? A bill says no driver’s license for you!
