The space shuttle Atlantis has landed at Kennedy Space center ending a 30-year era in travel beyond our world.

NPR gives a minute by minute breakdown of Atlantis’ journey back into the atmosphere and back to earth.

Kentucky~ Home invaders are not attempted murderers. An alleged war-hating, child-porn-loving soldier is AWOL. From a Jewish and Catholic hospital merger in Louisville arises concern. Parts of Nunn’s files will be made public.

Illinois~ The union is set to vote on a Honeywell agreement.

Many politicians take “full responsibility” for their actions. But what does that mean?

NPR reports most politicians claim to take full responsibility for mistakes they have made, however this means little.

Kentucky~ The weather is hot, really hot! FEMA held a meeting to explain why you can’t repair your house yet.  A Paducah liquor store opposes new liquor sales. Nunn is placed in protective custody after a jail house beating. A report says coal mines aren’t compliant with federal regulations.

Tennessee~ Montgomery County residents are now eligible for flood related unemployment funds.

KENTUCKY~ Police nab a man wanted on meth charges and the woman they claim was hiding him. Kentucky State Penitentiary @ Eddyville’s enforcement of visitation restrictions has upset volunteer pastors and inmates. Ownership of Murray’s Glendale Place Senior Living Community may soon change hands. The State Inspector General clears a Madisonville nursing home of wrongdoing in a fire-injury case. Work begins today on Eggner’s Ferry Bridge (expect delays). The mother of former-lawmaker Steve Nunn’s (alleged) victim is suing several Lexington-area community associations.

TENNESSEE~ Clarksville Police fires a former (fraudster) detective. Montgomery County refines how it deals with aggressive dogs.

ILLINOIS~ A man is dead after a shootout with police. A woman finishes an almost 1k-mile swim down the Ohio River. Governor Quinn cuts his staff’s pay after taking flack for giving out raises.

KY~ Car vs pedestrian on US-60… McCracken Schools announces two more superintendent finalists and Trigg County picks theirs. An IED killed a Fort Campbell medic in Afghanistan. The Attorney General targets the League of Cities. Retiring Senator Bunning blesses the Rand Paul campaign. The budget is down to the wire, and (surprise!) the GPS tracking bill passes. Just put those school repairs on the ole tab. Don’t forget to pay your taxes.

KY~ MSU benefits could soon be fair (to homosexuals). While Gun-wielding robbers roam the streets of Paducah, non-profits beg for money and Zumwalt makes off like a bandit. Hopkinsville plans to improve its parks system. A Veteran’s Center is renamed for Madisonville Rep. Eddie Ballard. Prosecutors are going for the death penalty in the case against former lawmaker Steve Nunn. Miner’s union backs Galbraith for Governor. House Majority Whip Stacy hopes the general assembly will pass a budget.

TN~ Clarksville’s Trane plant rehires 92 workers. Police: 17-year-old started the Kmart fire (and the store has re-opened).

SPORTS~ Baseball: MSU < WKU, UTM > ASU, APSU > UM. MSU Men’s golf team wins the Big Blue Invitational.
