The National Rifle Association of America is an American non-profit civil rights organization which advocates for the protection of the Second Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights and the promotion of firearm ownership rights as well as marksmanship, firearm safety, and the protection of hunting and self-defense in the United States. Established on November 17, 1871, it calls itself the oldest continuously operating civil rights organization in the United States. According to its website, the NRA has 4.3 million members.

Travel Memoir Author J. Maarten Troost highlights International Education Week at Murray State with a presentation at 6 tonight in Wrather Auditorium Troost’s memoirs include Lost on Planet China, Getting Stoned with Savages, and The Sex Lives of Cannibals. A reception follows in Pogue Library.
The Quilt Lovers of Murray’s 4th Annual Holiday Bazaar Bake Sale and Bed Turning is Saturday from 9:30 to 1 in the Community Room of the Calloway County Public Library at 710 Main Street in Murray. Quilt wall hangings and quilts for sale. At 11 a narrator tells the story of each of 20 quilts layered on a bed as each is lifted for viewing.
