Datebook: July 7 – Slovenian War ends 20 years ago
On July 7, 1991 – the Brijuni Agreement ends the ten-day independence war in Slovenia against the rest of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Slovenian and Croatian independence were agreed to. The terms were distinctly favourable to Slovenia; it was agreed that Slovenia and Croatia would postpone their independence for three months — which in practical terms had little real impact — and the Slovenian police and armed forces (Slovenian Territorial Defence) were recognised as sovereign on their territory.

Six Kentucky parks, including Kentucky Dam Village and Lake Barkley offer guided trail rides on horseback during the summer months and into the fall. The 45-minute rides give visitors views of forests, wildlife and lakes. Rides are $18, and most parks offer them seven days a week during the summer. Learn more at parks.ky.gov.
