Datebook: April 25 – Red Hat Society Day

April 25 is official Red Hat Society Day. The Red Hat Society is the largest women’s social group in the world. As of January 2011, there are over 70,000 registered members and almost 24,000 chapters in the United States and 25 other countries. Learn all about the Red Hat Society here.

It’s Monday, April 25.

Saturday morning teams create artistic building projects made of canned goods and other non-perishable food items for judging and then donation to the Mayfield Graves County Needline and Food Pantry, 424 South Ninth Street in Mayfield. Today’s the registration deadline. Call 270-247-6333. Last year’s “Can Construction” netted over 10,600 cans, boxes and packages of food.

In Murray the 4th and Ash Community Garden starts Saturday with additional sign up days May 7th and 14th from nine to noon. Claim a spot on those dates or contact 270-293-8901 or greensolutionsrecycling@gmail.com. There are 12 spots available for minimum donation of $10 to the Murray Art Guild.

“Pieces of Ability” quilt exhibit opens today at the Easter Seals West Kentucky Child Development Center, 801 North 29th Street in Paducah, open 9 to 4 daily. It features over 100 quilt blocks created from donated fabric and designed by those who attend the Center .
