It’s Friday, March 11.

Janice Mason Art Museum opens a new show titled Translated Landscapes – the artwork of Brian Taylor, professor of art at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. Taylor’s acrylic paintings cue off light, color and movement in nature. There’s a reception tonight from 6 to 8. The Museum’s on Main Street in Cadiz, open Tuesday through Saturday 10 to 4 and Sunday 1 to 4.

UK Extension Service’s Dr. Winston Dunwell and Justin Stelter, historic gardener and horticulturist for Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Tennessee present a program on beautiful gardens tomorrow from 9 to noon at the Cherry Civic Center, 2700 Park Avenue in Paducah. Admission is $18. The Purchase Area Master Gardeners Association offers gardening gear for sale.

Springville, Tennessee’s Volunteer Fire Department fundraises with a chili supper tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the Springville Community Center, 95 Boardview. The menu includes hot dogs, slaw, drink and dessert.
