It’s Thursday, January 20.

Today the United Way of Murray-Calloway County’s free tax preparation service for families with a household income below $49,000 at the Weaks Center in Murray.  IRS certified volunteers are at the Weaks Center from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through March 3.  Appointments are required at 270-753-0929.  Filers must bring all required documents to appointments.

Tomorrow is the deadline for reservations for the Madisonville Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Annual Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on January 27 at Covenant Community Church.  U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield is the keynote speaker.  Tickets are $20 per person.  Call 270-821-3435 for reservations.

Next Tuesday poet Ann Neelon, professor of English at Murray State University, speaks about the exhibit on loan from Michoacan, Mexico, Rights in a Foreign Land, at Clara Eagle Gallery.  Neelon’s lecture begins at 7 p.m. in room 631 adjacent to the gallery on the 6th floor of Doyle Fine Arts near 15th and Olive.
