It’s Monday, January 10… Oil first gushes in Texas 110 years ago

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend observation starts Friday, January 14, with a memorial blood drive at Rosary Chapel, 711 Ohio Street in Paducah from Noon to 5.  There’s free lunch for donors.  Also Friday the Annual Celebration at Lourdes Hospital starts at 3:30 p.m. in the Marshall Niemer Borders Community Room with guest speaker Anton Reece of UT Knoxville.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1620 West Main in Murray, offers a free warming center nightly 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. through March 12.  Dinner and breakfast provided.  No pre-registration required.  Come as you are.  For more information call 270-753-1881.  After 10 p.m. contact Murray Police at 753-1621 for entry.

Tonight at 7:30 Washington University faculty member Nick Reding reads from his works in Clara M. Eagle Gallery, 6th Floor Price Doyle Fine Arts at Murray State.  Reading’s books include The Last Cowboys at the End of the World and Methland.
