It’s Friday, November 5.

Murray State’s Department of Music presents a concert “So you want to be an opera singer?” tonight at 7:30.  The Audience votes on arias by several composers to determine the program.  Pamela Wurgler moderates, Angelu Wu the pianist, and singers include Sonya Baker, Randall Black, Tana Field and Christopher Mitchell.  The free concert’s in Performing Arts Hall of Doyle Fine Arts.

The 2011 Lower Town Arts and Music Festival has announced a call for artists with entries due January 31.  See  It’s open to artists within a 300 mile radius of Paducah.  E-mail for more.

The Murray State Department of History offers a free concert of American Roots Music at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in Wrather Museum Auditorium at Murray State.  Performers include the Grand Ole Opry’s Scott Miller accompanied by Ted Franklin Belue, OH BROTHER WHERE ART THOU artist Mike Compton and David Peterson, and Lew Jetton and 61 South performing roots blues.
