The Department of History of Murray State University hosts the 9th annual James W. Hammack, Jr. Scholarship Banquet Saturday.  It’s at the Curris Center, beginning at 7 p.m.  Reservations are $40 per person at 270-809-2234.  Proceeds fund scholarships for graduate history students.  Dr. G. Kurt Piehler of UT Knoxville speaks on the Religious Life of the GI During World War II.

The Pennyroyal Area Museum hosts its 26th annual tobacco night rider open air hayride tours Saturday –running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults.  The museum is at 217 east 9th street in downtown Hopkinsville.

Saturday is National Public Lands Day in Land Between the Lakes.  Volunteer for a maintenance project on the north south trail, meeting at Grey’s Cemetery at 8:30 a.m.  Volunteer for shoreline clean up meeting at the Nature Station at 9, or a canoe/kayak cleanup leaving from Neville Bay at 9.  See for more.
